How much German do I learn in each level?

The language ability of European Languages is uniformly determined by international standards governed by The Common European Framework of Reference for European Languages (CEFR). It determines the language ability on six point scale, from A1 for beginners, up to C2 denoting mastery over the language.

A1 Level

This is the most basic level of learning the German Language. At the end of this level, you will be able to:

  • introduce yourself in a conversation and answer simple personal questions
  • understand and name numbers, amounts, time and prices
  • write short personal messages
  • understand short & simple questions, public announcements & short conversations
  • make and react to everyday requests

A2 Level

This is second level of learning German Language. At the end of this level, you will be able to:

  • introduce yourself in a conversation and converse about your personal life
  • understand most important information in everyday life
  • write messages related to your everyday environment
  • understand short radio announcements, conversation on telephone
  • fill out forms commonly used in shops, banks or government offices
  • make agreements or negotiations in everyday conversations

B1 Level

This is intermediate level of learning German Language. At the end of this level, you will be able to:
  • understand important information, public announcements and radio reports in detail
  • write coherent personal and semi-formal texts, such as letters and e-mails
  • extract important details from a newspaper, statistic and everyday description
  • have direct conversations on topic of personal interests
  • briefly express opinions and react to partner’s opinion
  • report on a situation, make suggestions and agreements

B2 Level

This is higher intermediate level of learning German Language.  At the end of this level, you will be able to:

  • understand the main ideas of complex speech on the telephone or on the radio, on both – concrete and abstract topics, locating relevant details
  • understand a wide variety of texts including short texts (such as advertisements) and longer, more complex factual texts, comments and reports
  • write clear and structured letters on complex factual subjects and correct errors in letters written by others
  • give clear, systematically developed descriptions on a wide range of general subjects related to your field of interest
  • take an active part in informal discussions in familiar contexts, commenting, putting your point of view and opinions clearly

We offer following courses for the preparation for the International Certification of Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan

German A1 Level

Prerequisite: None

Duration: Approximately 3 months

Class Frequency: Mon to Fri (1.5 hours per day)

Fees: INR 11,000/-

German A2 Level

Prerequisite: A1 Level

Duration: Approximately 3 months

Class Frequency: Mon to Fri (1.5 hours per day)

Fees: INR 11,000/-

German B1 Level

Prerequisite: A2 Level

Duration: Approximately 4 months

Class Frequency: Mon to Sat (1.5 hours per day)

Fees: INR 15,000/-

German B2 Level

Prerequisite: B1 Level

This level is split into two sub-levels, viz. B2.1 and B2.2

Duration: Total 5 months (2 months for B2.1 and 3 months for B2.2)

Class Frequency: Mon to Sat (1.5 hours per day)

Fees: Total INR 27000/- (INR 12,000/- for B2.1 and INR 15000/- for B2.2)

German Grammar Course

Special Grammar courses are conducted for each level, i.e. A1, A2 and B1

These courses are conducted in small groups as per requirement

Fees: INR 3,000/- per level

Exam Training Courses

Special Exam training courses are conducted for each level

Useful ONLY after completion of respective level

Preparation for International Exams conducted by Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan

Fees: 

A1 -INR 3,000/-   A2 -INR 3,000/-
B1- INR 5,000/-   B2- INR 5,000/-
